What does a Notary do?
We are appointed by the government to authenticate important documents and administer certain oaths. We notarize insurance bonds, letters, public applications, FHA/VA and Conventional Mortgages, HELOC’s, HECM’s, and Deeds of Trust.
The primary function of a notary is to deter fraud, by determining the signer knows what they are signing, and that they are a “willing participant in the transaction.” We can not offer legal advice, nor draft any legal documents. It is also important to note that we are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of documents, but only the identity of the signer. Note, we are not a Notario Publico, and for the most part can not perform services related to immigration.
According to the NNA for a document to be notarized it must include the following components:
- Language that commits the signer in someway
- An original signature by the individual signing the document
- A notarial certificate (attached too or on the document itself)
